Singer Moon Hee Jun opened up about why he rarely talks about his time in H.O.T. during variety show appearances.
On the July 28 episode of Channel A’s 'Table for 4', actor Kim Jung Tae invited his close friends Moon Hee Jun and Kim Byung Hyun to his home.
Moon Hee Jun reflected on his early days, saying, “I’ve never really lost at anything growing up. I placed first in dance competitions and also ranked first when I auditioned for SM. While others only showed singing and dancing, I showcased eight different talents.”

He recalled that when he did impersonations during his SM audition, Lee Soo Man told him, “That’s funny—keep going.” He added, “At the time, they said they’d notify me by mail, but he whispered in my ear, ‘You’re in.’ I was so happy. I started training the very next day.”
However, Moon Hee Jun confessed that he has intentionally distanced himself from talking about his idol past.
“It’s a beautiful memory, but at some point, I stopped mentioning it on shows. When I think about that time too much, it becomes hard to enjoy variety shows. Once filming ends, it really weighs on me.”
He added, “I didn’t even know the word ‘emptiness’ before I debuted. I had never used it. But after becoming a singer, I came to understand what emptiness really means.”

He elaborated further:
“After hearing the crowd’s screams, I’d get in the car, drenched in sweat, and head home. I’d hear ringing in my ears—kind of like tinnitus—because I always wore in-ears. That ringing and the echoes of the crowd would linger, and I’d suddenly feel this wave of loneliness as I entered the house.”
Moon Hee Jun then smiled and added, “But I’m okay now. These days, when I come home, my wife yells joyfully as soon as I walk in. I love it.”
