Actress Song Ji Hyo has once again become the center of debate following her limited screen time on the long running SBS variety show 'Running Man'.
The March 8 KST broadcast ran for about 90 minutes, but viewers pointed out that Song Ji Hyo appeared for only around 10 seconds, sparking discussion online.
After the episode aired, reactions quickly spread across online communities and social media. Many viewers noted that Song Ji Hyo mostly appeared in reaction shots or group scenes, while she rarely took the lead in games or conversations during the episode.
The situation soon led to renewed criticism from some viewers, with comments such as “Isn’t this a lack of professionalism?” and “She’s a regular member but her presence is too weak.” However, others defended her, suggesting that the issue might have been a result of editing or that she did not seem to be in good condition during filming.
This is not the first time Song Ji Hyo has faced controversy regarding her screen time on the show. Similar criticism surfaced in 2023, when some viewers questioned her level of participation.
At the time, fellow cast member Yoo Jae Suk addressed the issue on the web show 'Pinggyego', saying that Song Ji Hyo had been making significant efforts. He also mentioned that she felt upset after watching episodes where she had little dialogue.
Song Ji Hyo has also clarified that she has no intention of leaving the program. In a YouTube appearance in 2024, she stated that she would not step down unless the production team decided to end the show.
Meanwhile, Song Ji Hyo joined 'Running Man' in 2010 and has remained a fixed cast member for 16 years. In 2016, she and Kim Jong Kook were briefly notified of their removal from the show, but strong viewer backlash led the production team to apologize and reinstate both members.
