Actors Ju Ji hoon and Ha Ji won shared their thoughts on portraying a married couple in the upcoming drama 'Climax'.
On March 10, a press conference for the drama 'Climax' was held at The Saint in Guro, Seoul.
Climax, written by Lee Ji won and Shin Ye seul and directed by Lee Ji won, tells the story of Bang Tae seop, a prosecutor who steps into a powerful cartel in pursuit of the highest position in South Korea. The series follows the intense survival battle surrounding him. The drama has also drawn attention for the on screen marriage between Ju Ji hoon and Ha Ji won.
When asked about their romantic chemistry, Ju Ji hoon said that their relationship in the drama reflects a realistic marriage rather than a light romantic comedy.
“We are not in our early twenties anymore,” he said. “There might be elements of romance, but like a real married couple, things cannot always be good. There are conflicts, but there is also trust. Even in difficult situations, there is a sense that ‘this person will not betray me.’ While acting out those emotions, I definitely received a lot of help from Ha Ji won.”
He also praised his co star for creating a comfortable atmosphere on set.
“In tense situations, she has a way of making people feel relaxed,” he said. “When she is on set, the atmosphere becomes softer. Even in difficult scenes, I learned from her that you do not need to become sharp or stressed to prepare well.”
Ha Ji won responded by saying that this project offered a different kind of melodrama for her.
“I have done romantic comedy before, but this is my first time doing such an intense melodrama,” she said. “Working with Ju Ji hoon made it even better. He is very cool and honest, and we had great chemistry while acting. Because we trusted each other without overthinking, even the emotionally intense scenes or arguments felt natural and enjoyable.”
Meanwhile, 'Climax' will premiere on March 16.
