One year has passed since singer Wheesung passed away.
Wheesung was found dead at an apartment in Gwangjin District, Seoul, at around 6:29 PM on March 10, 2025. He was 43 years old.
At the time, Wheesung had returned to Korea from China the day before his death and was scheduled to meet his manager, but they were reportedly unable to reach him. His mother later visited his home, discovered him collapsed, and called emergency services. However, he had already passed away.
His agency, Tajo Entertainment, said at the time, “Our artist Wheesung has left us. He was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced dead.” The agency added, “His bereaved family, fellow artists, and all employees are mourning with deep sorrow following the sudden, tragic news.”
Police reported that no signs of forced entry or criminal activity were found at the scene. Authorities requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death. The initial findings were inconclusive, and further forensic analysis was conducted, but no evidence of a crime was ultimately discovered.
However, the specific cause of death was not disclosed out of consideration for the late singer’s reputation and his bereaved family.
Born in 1982, Wheesung debuted in 2002 with his first full-length album Like a Movie. He received widespread love for numerous hit songs, including "Can’t We," "Insomnia," "I Even Thought of Marriage," and "With Me."
