Heeseung officially announced his departure from ENHYPEN, personally sharing his thoughts and plans for a solo career through a heartfelt handwritten letter.
On March 10, Heeseung posted a detailed message on the fan platform Weverse, acknowledging fans’ surprise at the news. “ENGENE (ENHYPEN’s fandom name) must have been very surprised to hear this news, and I believe many of you may have questions because it came so suddenly,” he wrote.
Reflecting on his journey since debuting with ENHYPEN in 2020, Heeseung expressed gratitude for the past six years. “The six years I spent with ENHYPEN were filled with moments so overwhelming and precious that words cannot fully describe them. Thanks to my fellow members who shared countless emotions with me, and to ENGENE who always filled every empty space with love, I could take one step closer to dreams that once felt unreachable,” he said.
“Those times will remain some of the brightest memories of my life. I want to continue supporting ENHYPEN more than anyone and never forget those moments. Having contributed to songwriting and composition for tracks like “Highway 1009,” Heeseung revealed that he has long nurtured ambitions as a solo artist. “I shared many of my works with the company and spent a long time discussing how best to show them to ENGENE. After much consideration, I made a big decision to follow the direction suggested by the company so I could present the best version of myself to fans,” he explained.
Heeseung also reflected on balancing his personal ambitions with the group’s activities. “I’ve spent a lot of time on personal projects, hoping to share them with you one day. There were so many things I wanted to show, but I didn’t want to put my own desires ahead of the team,” he admitted.
He reassured fans that he is preparing to return soon. “I understand your concerns and the many stories being shared. I’m working hard so we can meet again soon. More than anyone, I sincerely want to return with an even better version of myself. I will keep the love ENGENE has given me engraved in my heart as I move forward.”
Earlier, BELIFT LAB announced that ENHYPEN will continue as a six-member group with Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-Ki, while Heeseung will pursue independent activities as a solo artist. “After in-depth discussions about each member’s vision for the future and the direction of the team, we confirmed that Heeseung has a clear musical path he wants to follow. We decided to respect that direction,” the agency said.
Heeseung’s departure marks a significant turning point, as he embarks on a solo career while ENHYPEN moves forward with its new lineup.
