Yuri of Girls’ Generation (Kwon Yuri) has been recognized as a distinguished taxpayer.
On March 9 KST, the Gangnam District Office in Seoul held the 2026 Distinguished Taxpayer Commendation Ceremony, presenting awards to 10 taxpayers who have contributed to the local community through consistent and responsible tax payments. This year’s recipients included five individuals and five corporations, with Yuri among the honorees.
The district selects distinguished taxpayers each year to promote a mature tax paying culture. Eligible candidates include individuals, organizations, or corporations with a registered address or business in Gangnam who have had no tax delinquencies over the past 10 years and have faithfully paid at least two local taxes every year for eight consecutive years.
Additionally, candidates must have paid at least 10 million won in taxes in the previous year for individuals and organizations, or 50 million won for corporations. Contributions to district development and the local community are also considered during the selection process.
To allow responsible taxpayers to feel the benefits of their contributions, the district revised its ordinance last year to expand incentives. These benefits include discounts on health checkups at partnered medical institutions, cultural perks such as discounted performance tickets, and reduced fees for local cultural centers, community centers, lifelong learning programs, and sports facilities.
Cho Sung Myung, head of Gangnam District, expressed gratitude to the recipients, stating, “We sincerely thank our distinguished taxpayers for fulfilling their tax obligations faithfully despite difficult economic conditions. We will continue strengthening respect and benefits for taxpayers while maintaining a fair and transparent tax administration to repay the trust of our residents.”
