As K-pop continues to solidify its status as the "Premier League" of the global entertainment industry, international hopefuls are increasingly making their way to Korea to join the movement.
New boy group SEVENTOEIGHT is one such example.
SEVENTOEIGHT is a global K-pop group composed entirely of Asian members. Formed through the Korea-Taiwan joint survival program 'SCOOL', aired on SBS, the group officially debuted on July 28 in Korea—the heart of K-pop.
At their debut showcase held at the Shocking K-Pop Center in Mapo, Seoul, all six members—Chiwon, Diom, M, Kyojun, Jagger, and Xy—took the stage.
Performing the double title tracks from their debut single SEVENTOEIGHT, “PDSR” and “Drip & Drop,” the members proved that while their nationalities may differ, their performance quality left no doubt about their place in the world of K-pop.

As rookies in the K-pop scene, the members expressed their deep determination.
Xue Jun, a former athlete, shared, “I approach the stage the same way I did competitions—seriously and with focus.” Eexiang added, “It still doesn’t feel real that I’ve finally achieved my dream of debuting as a K-pop idol.”
The members also expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“We’ve dreamed of becoming K-pop artists since we were young. We’re so thankful to be able to debut here in Korea.”
During the showcase, the group also revealed their fandom name for the first time: “Yi Qi”—a Mandarin phrase meaning “together,” which also cleverly references the numbers 1 and 7 in Chinese. Fittingly, SEVENTOEIGHT (728) made their debut on July 28, a date embedded in their group name.
