On July 3, singer Lady Jane and her husband Lim Hyun Tae welcomed twin daughters into the world. In a recent phone interview with Xports News, Lady Jane shared her thoughts on childbirth, recovery, and her future plans regarding a third child.
Lady Jane married Lim Hyun Tae, who is 10 years younger, in July 2023. After undergoing three rounds of IVF and freezing her eggs, she successfully conceived twin girls. The babies were born at 37 weeks and one day.
Speaking five days after giving birth, Lady Jane said, “I feel like I’ve already recovered. People around me scared me with stories about the pain of C-sections, but it wasn’t as bad as I feared. I think I have a high pain tolerance. I’m already walking well and feeling good.”
Although the pregnancy was much desired, discovering she was having twins initially made her anxious. “I kept thinking, ‘I just want to give birth and end this pain.’ I’m petite, so everyone warned me that I wouldn’t be able to walk near the end, that I’d need help just to get to the bathroom. But it wasn’t that extreme. I stayed active and even went out for meals with my husband the day before the birth.”
Doctors were initially concerned she might go into preterm labor due to her age and small frame, but everything went smoothly, with no complications. “They thought I’d have to be hospitalized early, but I carried the twins to full term without any issues. Even my doctor was surprised.”
Despite the smooth birth, she admitted feeling frustrated that her weight hasn’t dropped significantly yet. “So far, I’ve only lost about 5kg, which is basically the babies’ weight. I gained a total of 25kg during IVF and pregnancy. I guess I’m just more swollen because I’m usually slim. Now that I’m in the postpartum care center, I’ll try to walk more and get massages.”
When asked if she has a target weight in mind, she joked, “Just getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight feels like a dream. It’s like another lifetime ago.”
As for having a third child? She was clear: “Absolutely not. At first, I was scared about having twins, but now I can’t imagine it any other way. If I’d had just one baby, I think I would’ve felt like something was missing. I’m grateful it happened like this. My husband jokes about having a third, but I always say, ‘I got lucky having two at once. That’s it for me.’”
She added, “I have no desire for a son, and there’s no guarantee the next one would be a boy. I don’t want to go through pregnancy, childbirth, and recovery again. I’m already of advanced maternal age, and I don’t think I could do this again later.”
