SBS has responded to criticisms of IU's acting on 'Scarlet Heart: Ryeo'.

On August 31, SBS drama head Kim Young Sub stated, "We don't think it's something to be criticized that much. In fact, she's shown growth from her previous projects. There's prejudice against her because she's an idol star, and I know she has a lot of anti-fans. I don't think it's right to judge her acting based on that kind of prejudice."

He continued, "IU's acting was good, and it'll show in future broadcasts, so please look after her."

Ever since the premiere of 'Scarlet Heart: Ryeo', there has been criticism of IU as well as EXO Baekhyun's acting on the show. What did you think of the first episodes of the drama?

No seriously her acting is really good and I think she prepared for it so well ...the fact that they are complaining I don't understand it !!Also I'm not an anti or something but the article is right about Baekhyun ..dont feel mad but really they cant compare those two ..IU reached another level and he should have understood his character more ..and I think most of his fans know this but just dont want to admit it .

I admit that IU's acting was a little bit cringe-worthy at first, especially in the first two episodes, but she's gotten SO much better and I feel it will show in the later episodes. Her acting wasn't even that bad so I don't get the harsh criticisms she's been getting! She's definitely improved a lot from her Dream High days.

Just watched the drama and I don't understand the criticism. Her acting was totally normal and her role isn't that hard. Why are k-netizens whining like that ? I'm puzzled...

IU's acting is good and her role doesn't require any drastic acting that she is lacking as of now.

while park shin hye's acting is making my jaw cringe, IU's on the other hand doesn't. I don't think that the critics are coming from people who are knowledgeable on acting and film but good for nothing loosers having nothing else to do in their lives. IU is awesome and to be honest I wouldn't be watching the show if the female lead wasn't IU.

I'm so pleased to see the head of drama defending her rather than throwing her under the bus!  Her acting might not be perfect but they choose her for a reason, it's nice to see them standing by their decision rather than agreeing with the haters!  It's not really her fault after all, she only accepted the role!!  If SBS thought she was that bad they'd never have cast her!  I'd be interested to see if any of the haters could do a better job?!

They choosed her for rating but end up flopping

AhRin1980 Monkeytae Friday, September 2, 2016

But at least they are standing by her instead of blaming her for their decision! Normally they'd throw the idol under the bus and blame them!

AhRin1980 Friday, September 2, 2016

I guess it's just refreshing to see the person who made the mistake accept it was their mistake and no-one elses!

Monkeytae AhRin1980 Friday, September 2, 2016

Ofc they wont blame her. If not people will ban them

It didn't really flop... well, based on the Korean ratings while also comparing it to MDBC, sure. But it's getting a lot of international attention so there's the plus side to that? China seems to really love it. It's just really unfortunate that it's not doing so well in its home country though.

Monkeytae ironknight Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Not really. U can take a look at last night rating. It was completely floper than UF

IU is the real proof of how doubled-moral koreans are. She published a pic in bed with a man half-naked and yet she's still on TV. #DoubleMoralWho

amy_amiable Thursday, September 1, 2016

Damn i like this person i mean seriously they casted her because obviously they think she can act and i really didn't find anything wrong with her acting, don't know why people gotta hate all the time

Funky_Angel Thursday, September 1, 2016

Isn't it your fault in the first place for casting an idol with lolita controversy?

Gabriela_Kim Funky_Angel Thursday, September 1, 2016

hahaha the awful truth XD

CandyToo Thursday, September 1, 2016

Monkeytae CandyToo Friday, September 2, 2016
