[INTERVIEW] ROCKY talks touring, growth, and filling the stage with his fans

2025 has been a year of touring for ROCKY, who has continued his fan-meeting circuit from last year with stops in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico.
Following the release of his latest single, “BA BA BYE,” ROCKY has been holding events in Asia. Over the past few months, he has successfully completed solo shows in Japan, Taipei, Bangkok, Singapore, and recently, the Philippines.
In June, ROCKY reunited with his fellow ASTRO members on stage for the first time in a while for their “ASTROAD: Stargraphy” concert.
Ahead of ROCKY's concert in Manila (presented by Wish Us Luck), allkpop had the opportunity to catch up with the artist backstage. We talked about his solo career and his development so far. Check out the full exclusive interview below!

allkpop: Aside from the tour, tell us about the goals you’re working towards for this year.
ROCKY: So far, there's a tour right now, so I have a lot of performances to do for the remaining stops. While working hard on my stage, if a good opportunity comes, I will gladly go to more places with my performances.
allkpop: Could you share with us the meaning behind the tour name, “Fill in the Blank”? If you were to fill in a blank with your own colors, what would it be?
ROCKY: For the meaning of “Fill in the Blank”: when I perform, I'm happy to be with my fans. So by being with them, I am able to fill the blank. Doing so basically means that I am with my fans and I'm filling that space of emptiness with them.
It's been nine years since I've been to the Philippines, and I’m thinking of filling the stage — the blank space — with my performances. If I were to pick a color, I think I’d go with white.
allkpop: How did you find the preparations for your first fan con tour so far? What's it like filling the stage all by yourself, and what have you learned from that journey?
ROCKY: It's been a long time since I performed solo on stage, and through that experience, I've learned that I shouldn't just think about what I personally like. I also have to consider the audience. As I've done that, I've developed the know-how to create those kinds of performances. I've been thinking about this a lot, wondering, “How can I deliver a better performance each time?”
allkpop: What are your pre-stage rituals, or what helps you stay calm before performing?
ROCKY: First, I do stretching to relax my body. When I'm practicing, I always think, “I just want to complete the stage.” This mindset helps me approach each performance with the same focus I have during rehearsals.
allkpop: Could you describe to us the growth that you’ve been experiencing and seeing within yourself? Looking back, how are you satisfied with your improvement as an artist?
ROCKY: I'm actually very satisfied with my development. I've been growing very slowly, little by little. In the past, I felt I had nothing to brag about because I had no solo experience. But as I started going on different programs and even winning, I've been able to develop and see my growth as an artist.
