On August 19, an industry insider revealed Kim Jong Kook's wedding date to media outlet MyDaily. The insider stated, "Kim Jong Kook will hold a wedding on September 5 at a venue in Seoul."
The insider added, "As previously reported, the ceremony will be small, with only family and close acquaintances invited. I understand that the colleagues he worked with on programs have also been invited."
On August 18, Kim Jong Kook announced his marriage during the recording of SBS's 'Running Man.' The episode was originally scheduled to air on September 7, but it was moved up to August 31. The reason for the change is believed to be that it would have little meaning if the broadcast came after the wedding had already taken place.
On the same day, Kim Jong Kook posted a heartfelt handwritten letter to fans and wrote, "I’m getting married. I know I’ve dropped little hints here and there, but I’m sure it still feels sudden to many of you. This year marks my 30th debut anniversary, and instead of making the album I wanted, I’ve created my other half. Please congratulate and support me. It may be late, but isn’t it fortunate that it’s happening now, at least? Right? I will do my best to live well."
Meanwhile, Kim Jong Kook debuted as a part of the duo team Turbo and has released many hit tracks. He has also been active on variety shows, including 'X-Man,' 'Family Outing,' 'Running Man,' and 'Problem Child in House.'
Recently, Kim Jong Kook purchased a luxury villa in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, entirely in cash for 6.2 billion KRW (4.5 million USD). In April, he bought the high-end villa (243㎡, one household) and completed registration on the same day. Notably, the property has no mortgage, confirming it was paid in full with cash. This marks his first home purchase in his 30-year career, and it was bought for residential purposes.
