Kim Se Jung and Kang Mina are sharing their individual earnings with their current group Gugudan.

Ever since 'Produce 101' and promotions with IOI, the two members successfully made their name known and gained immense love. This also led to various opportunities for CFs, variety shows, and more.

Kim Se Jung reportedly filmed about 10 CFs, gaining a large sum of income. Kang Mina also reportedly gained a good amount of earnings through individual promotions. It's revealed that the two idols equally share the earnings from their individual promotions with the members of Gugudan.

A rep from Jellyfish Entertainment explained, "Kim Se Jung and Kang Mina have been sharing their earnings from CF and other individual promotions with the Gugudan members. Currently, they're continuing to share their individual earnings with the members of Gugudan. The parents of Kim Se Jung and Kang Mina were the first to recommend sharing the earnings with Gugudan members who are also working hard with them."

Most people commenting about how unfair it is don't know shit. As other posters already said, Gugudan right now is in a lot of debt, their agency spent a lot on their training, dorm, living expenses and promotions so they as a group need to pay that back first before they can start earning money. Why are Sejeong and Mina's profits going to the overall debt instead of just their own? Because they are in a girl group, if Sejeong and Mina are the only ones who get their debt reduced then how do you think the other members feel? Sejeong and Mina made names for themselves in Produce 101 but a lot of their CFs and variety show appearances are also the result of the promotion of their company, look at Amber or Henry for example those artists don't get promotion from SM so the two of them are in the background most of the time. So it creates a snowball effect, Mina and Sejeong get famous and earn money and so their agency promotes them and they get more famous etc. if the other members aren't getting any debt reduction then they are gonna cry foul and ask the agency to promote them as well, this is the sort of thing which can destroy a girl group because other members will feel neglected and have resentment towards the other members, Miss A is a good example of a mismanaged group which fractured internally. Besides, this doesn't last forever once the debt is paid then the members only earn according to their own efforts, by that time the members  would have made a name for themselves individually so they will receive income in addition to the normal girl group profits.

so young and feeding too many kids already :P haha whatever, i personally think it's a dumb idea but they can do whatever they want with their money, it's their work, their time and their decision..

Well, I guess if it's ok with the girls and their parents, and they're not being forced or pressured into it, it's fine. Plus it never says that they're splitting the pay equally, so it's possible they keep a larger portion for themselves and share a smaller portion with the other girls. Who knows.

This is how a good group gets started :)

A lot of people in here dont understand that they have a debt as GUGUDAN, not as Sejeong, or Mina or Hana, etc. Their debt is as a whole group, not as individuals. If gugudan dont pay off that debt NO ONE gets paid no matter what; not even Sejeong. And Sejeong and Mina arent the only ones paying it off, Sejeong is the one that contributes more but shes not the only member. Haebin did with her profits from the musical she was part of and  her OST. Hana did with her CF. Nayoung did with individual activities as well as Mimi. Sally recently had an appearance in a chinese show so she probably did too and Soyee just had a duet so she probably will too. All of them are contibuting to pay off the debt, the diffrence is that Sejeong and Mina gets more jobs offers than the other girls but if they had the same opportunity they would do the same thing that SeMi are doing. The faster they pay off gugudan's debt the faster all of them can get pay for their individuals activities...I dont know why people are mad, this is of benefit for the whole group which means that is of benefit for Sejeong and Mina too. They arent paying "someone else's debt" as some people in here are saying. They are paying their debt, they are paying gugudan's debt...and guess what? SEJEONG and MINA are part of that debt becuase guess what again? THEY ARE PART OF GUGUDAN.

Bottom line here is: It is their money they can honestly do whatever they want with it. They want to keep it, fine, they want to share it, fine.
