Fantagio, the agency representing actor Kim Seon Ho, announced on August 19 that it is taking a strong stance against deepfake crimes involving the actor.
The agency revealed that there have been recent cases on social media where individuals have used deepfake videos and impersonation of Kim Seon Ho to demand money.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, Fantagio stated, “Acts such as impersonating Kim Seon Ho and spreading false information using deepfake technology are clear violations of the law.”
The agency emphasized its commitment to strict action against the production and distribution of deepfake content. “We will continue to conduct ongoing monitoring and take strong measures against any such illegal activities,” it warned.
Fantagio also addressed Kim Seon Ho’s fans, urging them to remain vigilant. “We ask fans to be particularly careful to avoid falling victim to these scams,” the agency added.
Deepfake technology, which uses artificial intelligence to manipulate images and videos, has increasingly been exploited to create explicit content and fake news, causing widespread harm.
Meanwhile, Kim Seon Ho is set to return to audiences with his upcoming projects, including the Netflix original series 'Can This Love Be Translated?.'
