On January 9, Verbal Jint uploaded his Instagram with an album cover image for his return to the music industry after his controversial DUI incident.

The song he'll be releasing for the first time in seven months is one entitled, "I Want to Know," which is about his wanting to know what President Park was doing for seven hours during the tragic Sewol Ferry incident.  This is a controversial topic at the moment, with the president claiming that she can't remember.

However, back in June, he had his own controversy for his drunk driving incident. He had admitted to it personally on his SNS, but people thought he might not have been sincere because the KBS 2TV show '60-Minute Pursuit' aired coverage of the drunk driving site soon after.

Hence, netizens commented with, "He was coincidentally caught by '60-Minute pursuit,' so he made some ridiculous excuse, saying he was going to the supermarket in front of his house, and made fun of this through this unscrupulous excuse, but he's asking about the amount of time [President Park spent on the Sewol Ferry incident]?  Looks like he's trying to purposely release a genuine song about the current state of affairs regarding the Sewol Ferry, but doing that isn't going to wash clean your image," "An attempted murderer talking about the Sewol Ferry... How profound," "'I want to know' about your drunk driving," "The answer is to be indifferent," and more negative comments.

What do you make of this?

Don't you noobs know that you can't be a real hip hop star unless you've gotten into a few drug abuse scandals and drunk car accidents?! You need to wear scandals like that as badges of honor to be a real! hip! hop! star!!!1

Maybe his song is in fact about his DUI?

mind_blown Monday, January 9, 2017

I'm sorry but he at least tried to atone for what he did. I'm still waiting for Kangin to just say "sorry"

(NOT completely joking) ... NO culture seems better at 'Tearing the Wings Off of Flies' than the S.KOREANS !!! ...

krell Monday, January 9, 2017

Actually, I find this all rather AMUSING. But involving THE SEWOL (ship of death) in ANYTHING seems RISKY at this point in time, in my view. YOU had better be rather SQUEAKY CLEAN yourself if you try it. Which, clearly, VERBAL JINT is not quite that 'clean' apparently.

I think you shouldn't need to have a clean record to talk about injustice or tragedy. That's a problem with the society if they won't listen to something important just because of who's saying it, not a problem with the person who speaks up about an issue which should be spoken of and remembered.

I *agree* with you mostly. You have the 'high ground' here. (Joking ; and NOT a fair comparison) But, do you want to be the one defending the right of IDI AMIN to criticize POL POT ??? ... Me, NOT so much! ...

Does he know knetizens? You get hate for existing...he should have known better. Much like he tried to make it seem like talking about his DUI was a guilty conscience when there was an actual video. Which could have been leaked at any minute. He needs to stop doing these stunts.

the two issues have absolutely nothing to do with each other!  How many fans are actually bitching this stupidly though? Allkpop always highlights the bad netizens, but perhaps they are in the huge minority this time?

His DUI was in Jun of last year. He admitted his mistake, went on hiatus and went to drunk driving meetings for months. That is a hell of a lot more then what Kangin and Khun ever did. He paid his dues and people need to get over it.

krell xiaozhu Monday, January 9, 2017

Uh, NO! K-pop Fans will 'beat him with it' whenever it is convenient! ...

Attempted Murder is the crime of preparing to commit unlawful killing and at the same time having a specific intention to cause the death of another human being. So while what he did was extremely, extremely stupid it was not attempted murder. Doesn't matter if his DUI was reported shortly after he came forward with it himself, what matters is he came forward and admitted it. His DUI and his wanting to know where President Park were during the 7 hours have nothing to do with each other. He is not the president so what he did effects only him (thankfully) while she is the president so what she was doing for those 7 hours has an effect on everyone, comparing them is stupid.
