CL has come under fire once again for her Quran controversy.

When she released her solo track "MTBD" back in 2014, the song had become highly controversial when Muslims noticed that the background track sounded very much like a reading of a verse from the Quran. As the Quran is the central text of Islam, Muslims protested that it is extremely offensive and it should not be made light of by being put in a song or used for entertainment purposes of any form.

The Korea Muslim Federation had raised a formal complaint, and YG Entertainment had ultimately decided to take out the controversial part of the song out

However, it seems like the unedited track made its way into CL's performance in Los Angeles, and some fans were appalled that she had performed the controversial track again. Some have even gone to trending hashtags and demanding an apology and explanation on her Instagram.

What do you think of the situation?

just over sensitive moslems as usual

devilaugh Tuesday, November 29, 2016

I'm generally a pretty respectful person of other people's religion, but this whole thing is a load of bullshit. I know a lot of Muslims claim that that audio came from a boy singing the Quran, but that doesn't mean that it is true. So there are all these butthurt people, Muslim and non-Muslims alike, who go crazy because it might possibly go against what Muslim's are supposed to practice. Stop trying to force your beliefs on other people. If you think that the song is inappropriate (if you're a strict practicing Muslim, you probably shouldn't be listening to kpop anyway), then don't seek out CL's music. I say this as a very liberal person, but this PC culture is actual bullshit. I want to be respectful about this topic and I understand that people find the possibility of this to be offensive, but seriously, any outrage or offense about it is 100% illogical. I guess this is more that religion itself is bullshit, illogical, and dangerous, but that's a different argument.

I'm a fan but she should've known that religion is always a sensitive topic. People are at war over that topic.Disappointed.

Seriously I dont mind if same thing happened to my religion because it will not affect my belief at all and most importantly, my heart is not made of glass, it wont scatter when you touch. ROFL.

Well its depends on ur belief and how much u respect the principles of ur religion. But as i said she apologised so im putting this behind us coz i learned from my religion to be forgiving too

I won't comment if she used Bible because I'm not a catholic and so i know nothing about it, etc. But Al-Quran is the ultimate guide for muslim, we ABSOLUTELY don't mess with it (it's not a matter of frail belief or getting butthurt or what). So as much as i love CL, i DO mind. I'm glad that the Korea Muslim Federation took notice and it's a good thing that she has apologized :)

I mean, really? Before any concert there will always be rehearsal and for her not to know this so called "old version" would be played was impossible lol stop making excuses already~

Shit. So many people in the comment section are ignorant and stupid.1.) Do not compare other religions to Islam because although your religion may not be offended, take into consideration that most faiths follow a different tradition. Those who follow Islam have every right to feel offended if this event had hurt them and you have no right to say they can't unless you have learnt the religion yourself.2.) Stop assuming CL did it because there is a partial blame to the staffs. However, I don't know how this can come about because there are rehearsals after all. 3.) Refrain from offending each other through religion or fandom, it just gives it a bad name and makes you look low.
