Singer DAWN has candidly shared the reason behind his recent style transformation.
On February 10, a video titled “Gong Hyo Jin Meets DAWN” was released on the YouTube channel For the Time Being, Gong Hyo Jin. In the clip, DAWN and actress Gong Hyo Jin sat down to talk about daily life, values, and personal growth.
During the conversation, DAWN addressed his evolving fashion choices. “These days, I’ve let go of fashion a bit,” he said. “When I was really into it, I was drawn to flashy looks. I kept searching for clothes that no one else wore and that no one could easily copy.”

However, he explained that his perspective eventually shifted. “At some point, I realized that I’m not actually that kind of person. It started to feel like I was pretending to be someone I’m not,” he admitted. “So I decided to look inward, and naturally, I stopped buying clothes.”
DAWN added that he has redirected the energy he once poured into fashion toward hobbies and his personal life. “These days, I spend more time at home and on my hobbies,” he shared. “Now I basically wear one outfit. I’ve even worn the same one or two outfits for two years straight. It’s much more comfortable.” He laughed as he recalled his past experimental looks, saying, “I really tried everything before. I wore skirts and even custom-made thigh-high boots.”

Gong Hyo Jin responded with empathetic advice as a senior in the industry. “Those energetic phases pass,” she said. “When you work in this field, there are times when everything feels exhausting, and you wonder why people won’t just leave you alone.” She added that moments of immersing oneself in a unique identity or style are part of the journey.
“Even if it becomes a ‘cringe’ memory later, it’s still part of your history,” she said. “I tell my junior actresses to just do what they want. In the end, everyone refines their own color.”
DAWN debuted in 2016 as a member of the boy group PENTAGON. In 2018, he publicly confirmed his relationship with singer HyunA, later leaving the group and transitioning into a solo career. The couple announced their breakup in December 2022. HyunA went on to marry singer Yong Jun Hyung in 2024.
