Actress Chun Woo Hee is set to join the highly popular crime action film series 'Veteran.'
According to an exclusive report by SPOTV News on February 11, Chun Woo Hee has been cast as a new lead in 'Veteran 3,' the latest installment of the crime action franchise. Her agency, Blitzway Entertainment, confirmed the news, stating, “She has received the offer and is positively reviewing it.”
Directed by Ryoo Seung Wan, the 'Veteran' series follows the relentless detective Seo Do Cheol, played by Hwang Jung Min, who stops at nothing to bring down powerful criminals. The first film, released in 2015, was a massive box office success, drawing 13.41 million viewers. Despite challenging conditions in the theatrical market, 'Veteran 2,' released last year, also performed strongly, attracting 7.52 million moviegoers and reaffirming the franchise’s popularity.
In Veteran 3, Junho (Lee Jun Ho) will take on the role of the main villain. After news of his casting broke, Lee confirmed, “It has been finalized as my next project, and I will be playing the antagonist,” raising anticipation for his transformation into a dark character.
With Chun Woo Hee joining the cast, fans are eager to see whether she will become a new member of the detective team or form a compelling villain partnership alongside Lee Jun Ho. The possibilities surrounding her role have already become a key point of interest.
Last year, Chun starred in the JTBC drama 'My Youth' alongside Song Joong Ki. In film, 'Veteran 3' will mark her first movie project in three years since 'Unlocked.' Having showcased remarkable versatility across a wide range of projects, including 'Han Gong-ju,' 'The Wailing,' 'Waiting for Rain,' 'Anchor,' 'The Atypical Family,' and 'The 8 Show,' Chun has demonstrated her ability to seamlessly move between protagonist and antagonist roles. As such, attention is mounting over what new side of herself she will reveal in 'Veteran 3.'
Production for 'Veteran 3' is expected to begin in earnest once director Ryoo Seung Wan completes promotional activities for his upcoming film 'Humint.'
