Actress Shin Se Kyung opened up about her school days and recent life updates.
On the February 11 broadcast of 'You Quiz on the Block,' Shin Se Kyung appeared as a guest and shared various stories from her past and present. She first talked about recently spending a month living in Paris. “I went to Paris to enjoy some rest,” she said. However, she admitted it was not entirely easy. “I felt pressured to make the most of every meal and every moment. I kept thinking, ‘I spent all this money to come here, so I have to use the time wisely,’” she confessed.
Shin Se Kyung, who edits her own YouTube videos, also discussed her meticulous process. “It takes a really long time to make one video because I’m an amateur,” she said with a laugh. “I learned editing by watching YouTube. If I’m fast, I can finish within a week, but usually it takes over two weeks.” She explained that she carefully checks each video for mistakes, whether passersby are properly blurred, and whether the sound is correct.
She also reviews whether any acquaintances who appear might have misspoken. “I send clips to friends whose voices appear to make sure they’re okay with it. That’s why I ended up editing everything myself,” she said. When Yoo Jae Suk asked if she simply couldn’t leave it to others, she replied with a smile, “That’s right.”
Shin Se Kyung debuted in 1998 as a poster model for Seo Taiji’s album and is now in her 28th year as an actress. She revealed she was cast after going to an audition through an introduction from an acquaintance of her mother. “It felt like a secret project. I don’t think my mom even knew the details,” she said, adding that her memory of the time is not entirely clear.
At age 15, she was cast as the younger version of Kim Hyun Joo’s character in the drama 'Toji The Land,' and she said she read the original novel to better understand her role. She also shared that she ranked within the top 10 in her entire middle school and studied English on her own. Yoo Jae Suk mentioned that during overseas filming for the movie 'Humint,' she even took on interpretation duties, and actor Jo In Sung once joked that he wanted to give her some money out of gratitude.

When it was brought up that she was once called the “Goddess of Mokdong” during her school days and was rumored to be one of the two top visuals at her high school along with Park Bo Ram, Shin Se Kyung looked flustered and laughed. “It’s my first time hearing that,” she said. She added, “I didn’t go to school with Park Bo Gum, but I heard he was very famous.”
Regarding 'Humint,' she said the film was shot for three months in Latvia, Eastern Europe. She shared that co-star Park Hae Joon was often curious about what she was eating. “There was a rumor that I always go around eating delicious food. Sometimes he would text me asking, ‘What are you eating?’” she said, drawing laughter.
She also revealed that Jo In Sung, herself, Park Hae Joon, and Park Jung Min once prepared 50 servings of food for the production staff. “Jo In Sung suggested we prepare a meal and treat the staff,” she said, adding that they made chicken soup and fried rice. “When the fried rice was almost done, Park Hae Joon came and told us to add some seasoning. Thanks to him, it turned out really delicious,” she said with a smile.
