YouTube channel Sojang operator has had their request to suspend compulsory execution accepted by the court.

According to an exclusive report by Maeil Business Newspaper on June 24, lawyer Jung Kyung Seok of the law firm LIWU, who represents IVE’s Jang Won Young and Starship Entertainment, stated to Maeil Business Star Today on the same day, “On the 23rd, the court decided to grant the suspension of compulsory execution requested by Sojang.

"Compulsory execution" refers to the enforcement of the court's ruling, usually involving the collection of damages or the removal of defamatory content. So when a court issues a judgment (example: ordering someone to pay compensation or take down defamatory content), the winning party can apply for compulsory execution if the losing party doesn’t comply voluntarily. However, Sojang was granted the right to suspend compulsory execution.

Sojang's operator is accused of defaming celebrities such as Jang Won Young, BTS, EXO, and Kang Daniel by posting false videos online between October 2021 and June 2023.

Prosecutors analyzed the YouTube channel’s account and found that the operator had earned approximately 250 million KRW (about 180,000 USD) over two years since June 2021.

On June 4, Judge Choi Mi Young of the Seoul Central District Court’s 50th Civil Division ruled that Sojang's operator must pay 50 million KRW (approx. 36,814 USD) in damages to Starship in a civil lawsuit where Starship had claimed 100 million KRW (approx. 73,628 USD).

Separately, in a personal damages lawsuit filed by Jang Won Young against Sojang's operator, the court also ruled this past January that the operator must pay her 50 million KRW.

In response, Sojang submitted an appeal on June 18, challenging the verdict in favor of Starship.

Sojang was also ordered in February to pay 76 million KRW (approx. 55,957 USD) in damages to BTS members V and Jungkook in a civil ruling. In 2023, she was fined 10 million KRW (approx. 7,363 USD) for defaming Kang Daniel and was additionally ordered to pay 30 million KRW (approx. 22,085 USD) in damages in a separate civil case brought by Kang Daniel.

Meanwhile, IVE’s Jang Won Young ranked 2nd in the June 2025 Girl Group Individual Brand Reputation Rankings released by the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute, demonstrating her popularity. Her brand reputation index increased by 3.26% compared to May.

Jang Won Young is currently active as a global muse for beauty and contact lens brands, as well as the exclusive model for an outdoor brand, among other endorsements.
