A former boy group member shared the week-long hospitalization after being attacked while trying to stop a drunk driver.

Seong Hyun Woo, a former member of the boy group Limitless, opened up about an incident in which he was assaulted by an acquaintance while trying to prevent drunk driving.

Recently, Seong Hyun Woo posted a video titled “The Story of Being Attacked While Stopping Drunk Driving” on his YouTube channel. He recounted the experience from when he was around 20 years old, describing the situation calmly.

Seong Hyun Woo said, “It was when I had left the company where I trained as a trainee and entered university. I had a brother-like friend, and that day we were both stressed, so we kept drinking.” He added, “I had to start trainee life again, so I needed to look for a company, and my friend was going through a hard time, too. We drank until sunrise.”

Problems arose on the way home. Seong Hyun Woo explained, “We went to get a taxi, but my friend said he brought his car and would call a designated driver to take him. Since he had drunk a lot, I was worried and went with him to where the car was.” He continued, “It seemed like he wanted to drive himself, so I said I’d watch him call a driver and go with him, but he just told me to leave, and we bickered.” Eventually, the acquaintance called the designated driver, and they waited together.

While waiting, Seong Hyun Woo recalled, “We were joking around and talking when suddenly he punched me straight in the face. He hit my nose and ear, and blood started dripping.” He added, “It happened so suddenly that I was stunned, and I felt both betrayal and anger, thinking, ‘Why is he hitting me when I was trying to prevent an accident?’” He reported the assault to the police on the scene.

He continued, “When the police arrived, they saw I was bleeding heavily and told me to go to the hospital, but at that moment, I was more angry than in pain. I insisted on writing a statement at the station first.” Afterward, he went to the hospital, where doctors told him he needed more than a week of inpatient treatment.

He shared, “It was only then that my friend sent a sincere apology message. We met and talked, and he even apologized in front of his family.” He added, “If it were me now, I probably wouldn’t have forgiven him so easily, but at the time, I liked him like a brother, so I forgave him.

However, the relationship did not last long. Seong Hyun Woo said, “At first, we kept in touch and even took care of each other like family, but after a while, the contact stopped, and we naturally grew apart.

Seong Hyun Woo first gained public attention in 2017 when he appeared on Mnet’s 'Produce 101 Season 2' and later debuted in 2019 with the boy group Limitless under the stage name AM.
