Singer and actor Park Ji Hoon, who drew attention for his portrayal of King Danjong in the film 'The King's Warden,' has delivered exciting news for fans. After actively expanding his acting career, he is set to return to the stage as a singer for the first time in a while.
On March 5, his agency YY Entertainment confirmed, “It is true that Park Ji Hoon is preparing a solo album, intending to make a comeback in April.” The upcoming release will mark his first solo return in approximately three years since his 2023 mini album Blank or Black.
Park Ji Hoon has recently been making waves on the big screen with 'The King's Warden,' where he took on the role of King Danjong and earned praise for his nuanced portrayal of the tragic monarch. The film has continued its box office success since its release, surpassing 9.5 million moviegoers.
Despite juggling promotional activities for the film and filming for his next project, Park Ji Hoon is reportedly dedicating himself to preparations for the new album. He is currently also participating in the filming of the tvN drama 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier.'
Former Wanna One Member Park Ji Hoon Rose to Global Fame Through ‘Produce 101 Season 2’
Park Ji Hoon first gained public recognition through the 2017 Mnet audition program 'Produce 101' Season 2. Participating as a trainee under Maroo Entertainment, he captured viewers’ attention with his stable performances and bright image. A “wink” moment he showcased early in the show went viral online, significantly boosting his popularity.
'Produce 101' Season 2 was a survival program in which debut members were selected through votes from “national producers.” In the live finale held in June of that year, Park Ji Hoon ranked second overall and was selected as a member of the project boy group Wanna One. The group consisted of 11 members: Kang Daniel, Park Ji Hoon, Lee Dae Hwi, Kim Jae Hwan, Ong Seong Wu, Park Woo Jin, Yoon Ji Sung, Hwang Min Hyun, Lai Kuan Lin, Bae Jin Young, and Ha Sung Woon.
Wanna One debuted in August 2017 with the mini album '1×1=1 (To Be One).' The title track “Energetic” quickly climbed to the top of major music charts upon release, solidifying the group’s explosive popularity. They continued their activities with hit songs such as “Beautiful,” “Boomerang,” “Light,” and “Spring Breeze.”
Over the course of approximately one year and six months, Wanna One achieved widespread domestic and international success. The group earned accolades on music programs and at various award ceremonies, and connected with fans through concerts, fan meetings, and their reality show Wanna One Go. As a project group, Wanna One officially concluded activities at the end of 2018 in accordance with their contract period.
Since then, Park Ji Hoon has balanced his solo music career with acting roles in both dramas and films.
