Shannon shed tears after hearing J.Y. Park's comments on her performance on 'K-Pop Star'

On the latest episode, Shannon, who has already debuted as a solo artist, sang "Jason's Song" by Ariana Grande, earning two 'pass' votes from Yang Hyun Suk and Yoo Hee Yeol. However, J.Y. Park was full of criticism unlike the other two judges.

He said, "Maturity that does not fit your age is actually a weakness."

J.Y. Park pointed out that Shannon knows her weakness but does not try to work on it. However, he added, "I've never seen someone who sings so well at your age," and suggested that she does not have to sing like she is showing off because she already has a great voice.

Shannon started to cry with J.Y. Park's constructive criticism, which suggested she sing more naturally, as if she agrees with and is thankful for the producer's feedback.

lolita0309 Tuesday, November 29, 2016

why is she auditioning again? isnt she in MBK ent?

RyoKim Tuesday, November 29, 2016

JYP criteria is to do anything naturally, not to show what ppl want to see. Also his judgement will be difficult if he is hungry lol.

Jyp never said shannons singing is bad. On the contrary he said he has never heard anyone her age sing as good as she does. He was giving her constructive critism about her knowing what she needs to work on but not doing anything about it. So please don't take out of context what jyp has said when his goal is to help Shannon. Also, just to clarify, an artist and a K-Pop idol are different. Artists focus on their skills and quality as a singer, where as K-Pop idols are more so in the music entertainment aspect. So comparing one type to a different type is not congruent.

I believe JYP is looking for someone who works hard. Even if a person is lacking in talent but still works hard then there is a room for improvement. Rather than a person who is overflowing with talent but does not do anything to improve his or her skills. I think I get this point that having a great voice doesnt necessarily mean a great singer. There is a big difference.

People with talent still work harder

alicehalf MsDee Tuesday, November 29, 2016

You work hard to get talent, she already has it, it means that she already worked hard to be that talented. JYP just don't know how to work with people with real talent but prefers to grow people with no talent but having potential. She deserves better, she have just to find her own color to be marketed. If you want to be a great singer, you HAVE TO have a great voice, and in addition to this a unique or personal concept to show your own color where the production can exploit it on marketing. But on the contrary, good concept/marketing but bad voice, you can't be a great singer, so what you say is a totally nonsense. For her the hardest is done, she has only to work her image with her production and with the public on variety show. She really have to work it since she doesn't have a really friendly image and korean people have a hard time to consider her as korean... I wateched Kpop Star and I can say to you that JYP's arguments are mostly weird and creepy. If you watched Sixteen, feel the discomfort of JYP's behavior for each candidat, he's really not fair on his judgement, and he mostly on aegyo candidats...

This actually means you didn't watch the show or Shannon at all. Because she actually agreed with his criticism and she cried because trying really hard made her not enjoy singing. What JYP said to her was to sing more freely and she agreed to that. If you are a Shannon fan, you would realize JYP's critique is actually helping her a lot.

Yeah, but it does not apply to all.

MsDee alicehalf Thursday, December 1, 2016

Then are you trying to say that we are all born with no talents? And singing is not all about voice. It requires a great amount of technique and emotions, hence, having a great voice doesn't necessarily mean a great singer. I am not saying that shannon is not a good singer but she can be great if she works hard to develop her skills more. You are missing the point.

Jolisa134 Tuesday, November 29, 2016

My girl will improve one day but for now his criticism is valid. I hope she uses it to make herself a better singer.

Jisoochicken16 Tuesday, November 29, 2016

Accepted criticism but she's not that bad. I'm pretty sure that the girls gonna improve sooner or later.

jikookie16 Tuesday, November 29, 2016
