Earlier this week, former 4minute member Heo Gayoon appeared on the YouTube segment 'To Be Honest' hosted by Yeom Mi Sol. The former idol star spent time discussing her essay, 'On the Most Unfamiliar Ocean, I Became Me', as well as her life as an idol singer, an actress, and later, a writer.
Revealing that she has been living in Bali, Indonesia for about 2-years now, Heo Gayoon said, "There was a time during my idol days when I was not in a good place. At the time, one of the members, Jiyoon, told me, 'In times like these, you need both mental and physical rest'. So we went to Bali together. After that, I just fell in love and now here I am." The singer also shared that living in Bali had cured her of illnesses she was suffering from at the time, including insomnia and bulimia.
At the same time, Heo Gayoon clarified that she has not left the entertainment industry for good. Rather, "It's not that I've given up. It's just that I've learned to let go. I think the wording you use can change how you absorb a situation. I used to think that if I quit being a singer, then I was giving up," Gayoon explained.
She added on, "But actually, I'm just taking a break for now. So many people have asked me if I'm retiring from the entertainment industry, and I always answer that I'm 'taking a break'. There might come a time when I decide to return."
Finally, Heo Gayoon reflected, "But I don't have any lingering attachments to the city. I just want to live an ordinary life."
