Actress Kim Hye Soo has revealed the real reason she often sports her signature headscarf style.
On August 21, Vogue Korea uploaded its first-ever “What’s In My Bag” video with Kim Hye Soo on its official YouTube channel. In the clip, the actress gave fans a rare peek into the items she carries every day, marking her debut appearance in the popular series.
Kim playfully pulled out a pouch she has used for more than 20 years and laughed as she admitted, “It’s really messy.” She also revealed practical items like hair ties, hand sanitizer, olive oil, and bamboo salt, explaining, “On set, I usually mix the bamboo salt in water and drink it. It’s one of my health tips.”
What drew the most attention was the scarf she always carries. “I always have a scarf with me. You can tie it in different ways or wear it as a headscarf. It’s very convenient. A black one, in particular, goes well with any outfit,” she said.
The actress then shared the surprising reason behind her long-time love for headscarves. Standing 170 cm tall, Kim recalled, “Toward the end of filming 'Smugglers,' I injured my forehead during an underwater shoot when I collided with equipment. At first, I wore a headscarf just to cover the scar. Later, I realized it was so comfortable because I didn’t need to style my hair. Fortunately, in recent years, headscarves have also become trendy.”
Another personal item in her bag was a bottle of vitamins featuring the face of 'The Second Signal' director Ahn Tae Jin. “It was a gift from the production team, reflecting how much they cherish the director. That makes it extra special to me, so I’ve continued to carry it even after filming wrapped,” she said.
Kim Hye Soo continues to captivate audiences with her enduring presence on screen, most recently in the film 'Smugglers' and other diverse projects.
