Actor Lee Yi Kyung’s case against an anonymous individual who threatened and defamed him had progressed, with police accelerating efforts to identify the suspect.

According to a report by Dispatch on November 24, a court issued a search and seizure warrant on November 21 for the social media accounts linked to the suspect, referred to as 'A.'

Investigators planned to collect key evidence, including IP addresses and log data from 'A’s Naver and X (formerly Twitter) accounts. Naver was said to be actively cooperating with authorities in cases involving criminal threats, and X was similarly providing subscriber information upon receiving the court warrant. Since 'A' used both platforms—Naver Blog and X—the police expected the process of verifying the suspect’s identity to move swiftly.

'A' had sparked controversy on October 20 by posting a Naver Blog entry titled, “Revealing the Real Lee Yi Kyung.” In the post, 'A' claimed to have had private conversations with the actor and published what they alleged were KakaoTalk messages and Instagram DMs.

Lee Yi Kyung’s representatives firmly denied the accusations, stating that the claims were fabricated. The actor recently filed a criminal complaint against 'A' for blackmail and defamation with the Gangnam Police Station and reportedly completed an in-person statement as the complainant.

On November 21, Lee Yi Kyung also shared a lengthy message on his social media, expressing his frustration over the months-long ordeal. He stated that an individual “claiming to be German had sent threatening emails to his agency several months earlier and had repeatedly appeared and disappeared without warning.

He also addressed speculation surrounding his departure from MBC’s 'Hang Out with Yoo,' explaining that 'A' had admitted within a day that their claims were fabricated before vanishing again. Despite this, Lee Yi Kyung said he was encouraged to step down from the show, which deeply upset him. He further recalled his frustration over the false allegations related to the noodle-slurping controversy.

Lee Yi Kyung concluded by saying that once the court warrant took effect, “the suspect will soon be identified,” adding that if 'A' truly resided in Germany, he would personally travel there to file a formal complaint.

Meanwhile, 'A' continued to display inconsistent behavior. After posting the allegations, 'A' abruptly claimed the message was “a joke” and that the images used were AI-generated. Shortly afterward, however, they reversed their statement again, saying their retraction was itself untrue.
