A Chinese fan of Seventeen’s Jeonghan has set the K-pop community abuzz after claiming to have purchased a heart-shaped island in South Korea as a long-term tribute to the idol.
The fan, known by the handle @lakukami on X (formerly Twitter), shared what appears to be a land deed asserting ownership of the island. According to their posts, the island spans 19,140 square meters and sits among the turquoise waters of the famed “1004 Islands” in Jeollanam-do, near Mokpo. The location is accessible via the region’s well-known 1004 Bridge, which links many of the area’s small islands.
A long-time supporter of Jeonghan since 2017, the buyer revealed plans to transform the island into “JeongjeongLand,” a dedicated space intended for fans. Proposed features include facilities where Carats can gather, celebrate milestones, and honor Jeonghan’s career. The fan also noted their goal to complete the project by the time Jeonghan retires or as a gift upon the singer’s discharge from mandatory military service.
The claims have yet to be independently verified, and questions remain regarding the authenticity of the purchase documents circulating online. Still, the announcement has generated widespread conversation across K-pop communities, with fans expressing everything from amazement to skepticism. Some are expressing concern as the gift seems excessive.
If confirmed, the purchase would mark one of the most extravagant fan gestures the K-pop industry has ever seen. What do you think of this Seventeen fan's island gift to Jeonghan? Let us know in the comments below!
