What appeared to be a resolved case involving actor Lee Yi Kyung and false AI-generated rumors has taken a new turn after the woman who initially accused him retracted her apology, causing the controversy to resurface.
Earlier, Lee Yi Kyung strongly denied the circulating rumors about his private life, stating through social media that they were “completely untrue” and announcing plans for legal action. His agency Sangyoung ENT also confirmed on November 3, “We have filed a defamation lawsuit against the individual who created and spread the rumors,” adding, “There has been no settlement or monetary agreement.”
The woman, referred to as A, who had originally posted the allegations, had also issued a public apology, admitting that the content was based on an AI-manipulated fake video, seemingly bringing the matter to a close. However, just one day after the lawsuit was filed, on November 4, A changed her stance and posted new comments on social media, retracting her earlier statement.
She wrote, “I’m thinking about releasing proof photos. It’s unfair to end things like this,” and “The AI explanation isn’t true. I was never sued.” Her new posts further fueled confusion, with some even hinting at the release of photos showing a person wearing clothing of a specific color.
While the authenticity of her latest claims remains unverified, the controversy has already had an impact on Lee Yi Kyung’s career. The actor recently stepped down from MBC’s ‘Hangout With Yoo’ and reportedly will not join KBS2’s ‘The Return of Superman’ as an MC, sparking concern among fans.
According to SBS Entertainment News, Lee Yi Kyung’s representatives have not provided a response when asked to confirm the truth behind A’s renewed claims, including her statements that she was “never sued” and about the alleged “photo proof.”
