Actor Lee Yi Kyung has filed a legal complaint against an unidentified individual who spread personal-life rumors about him. Despite his agency’s attempts to dissuade him, Lee broke his silence and personally shared what he has endured.
On November 21, Lee Yi Kyung posted a lengthy statement on his social media. Referring to netizen A, who claimed to be German, he wrote, “I didn’t speak up earlier because my agency asked me to refrain from addressing the situation.”
After hiring an attorney, Lee Yi Kyung officially began legal proceedings. He recently filed a police complaint with the Gangnam Police Station, accusing A of blackmail and violating the Information and Communications Network Act by defaming him with false information. “I was furious every single moment,” Lee confessed. He explained that the individual who claimed to be German repeatedly appeared and disappeared, similar to when they sent threatening emails to his agency months ago.
As a result of the controversy, he stepped down from 'Hangout With Yoo.' “A said it was fabricated and disappeared the next day, but I was still advised to leave the show, so I stepped down voluntarily,” he said.
Lee Yi Kyung also addressed another issue that surfaced during his time on 'Hangout With Yoo.' Regarding the “no-chewing noodles” controversy, he said, “I told them I did not want to do it, but they said they had already rented the noodle shop because of me and asked me to go through with it.”
He added, “When the controversy escalated, the production team only said, ‘We were in a hurry.’ I had to bear all the consequences alone, and it damaged my image.” He also indirectly mentioned his planned appearance on 'The Return of Superman.' “I was told I would appear through VCR segments, but after the article was released, I found out I had been replaced,” he said.
Other scheduled activities are proceeding normally. He shared that filming for the movie Regret Of The Times has wrapped and that work on a Vietnamese film, an overseas drama, and other variety shows is progressing without issue. Since he suffered damages due to A’s posts, Lee stated that he will respond strictly. “Once the warrant is issued, the suspect will soon be identified,” he said. “Even if they are in Germany, I will go there myself to file the complaint.”
In closing, Lee Yi Kyung expressed his gratitude to those who stood by him. “Thank you to the fans who trusted and waited for me and to everyone from 'I'm Solo,' 'Brave Detectives,' 'Handsome Guys' and more who believed in me and stayed loyal,” he said.
Lee Yi Kyung became embroiled in controversy last month after posts on X (formerly Twitter) accused him of exchanging explicit conversations and photos. His agency previously announced a strong stance, stating that the actor has suffered severe harm due to these malicious actions and that they will respond firmly without leniency even if the process takes time.
