An individual known as “A”, who recently claimed to expose actor Lee Yi Kyung’s private life, has admitted the posts were a prank involving AI-generated photos, and has since issued a public apology.
On October 22 KST, A posted on social media, stating:
“Recently, I uploaded various photos related to actor Lee Yi Kyung. I started writing those posts as a joke, and I didn’t expect them to gain so much attention.”
A further confessed:
“As I continued posting and using AI-generated images, I began to believe in the story myself,”
expressing regret and remorse for their actions.
They added,
“What started as admiration from a fan turned into emotional over-identification. I now feel guilty for crossing the line between fun and fiction.”
A went on to say,
“If there is any responsibility I must bear, I will take it,”
and asked for understanding, explaining,
“I’m German, so please forgive my clumsy Korean.”
Previously, on October 20, A had published a sensational blog post titled “Revealing the Real Lee Yi Kyung,” sharing alleged screenshots of private messages and DMs that included sexual content and profanity. These posts quickly sparked controversy and public backlash.
In response, Lee Yi Kyung’s agency, Sangyoung ENT, released an official statement saying they were preparing legal action for the spread of false information and malicious rumors. The agency stated it would pursue all possible measures based on the extent of direct and indirect damage caused.
According to the agency, A had sent blackmail-like emails about five months ago, demanding money in exchange for not releasing the content. At the time, A reportedly apologized after the agency threatened legal action.
As the controversy escalated, A posted an additional statement on their blog, responding to the agency’s claim:
“I’m surprised to hear I asked for money—that’s news to me,”
though they admitted,
“I once asked if it was possible to receive money, as I couldn’t ask my parents for financial help.”
They clarified that their earlier post wasn’t intended to extort money but was meant to
“warn other women by sharing harsh language,”
and again asked for privacy, saying,
“Whether it’s about my private life or anything else, I’d appreciate if people didn’t interfere.”
The scandal had briefly raised concerns over possible disruptions to Lee Yi Kyung’s TV appearances. However, with A’s sudden apology and clarification, the issue appears to have been nothing more than a misguided incident. Lee Yi Kyung’s current television projects are expected to continue as planned without any major setbacks.
