Jo Kwon has candidly shared the reason behind his reduced activities in recent years, revealing his family’s health struggles and his own condition.
On April 1, a video was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Soonpoong Sunwoo Yong Yeo,’ featuring Jo Kwon in a heartfelt conversation with veteran actress Sunwoo Yong Yeo.
The two reunited for the first time in 15 years, warmly catching up as Sunwoo Yong Yeo visited Jo Kwon’s home. During their conversation, Jo Kwon carefully opened up about why he had been less active.
“I’m an only child,” he began. “When I was in the military, my mother had melanoma and had to undergo partial amputation.”
He continued, “My father, who was born in 1954, underwent four surgeries last year due to colorectal cancer.”
Jo Kwon explained that caring for his parents became his priority, saying, “Since I’m an only child, it was too difficult for my mother to handle everything alone. I went back and forth whenever I had time, which made it hard for me to stay active.”
He also revealed his own health concerns, sharing, “I have low blood pressure and low blood sugar. I sometimes break out in cold sweats to the point where it feels like I’ve taken a shower, and I’ve even collapsed before.”
He added that he had experienced similar incidents in the past, including fainting in a waiting room during a variety show appearance.
In response, Sunwoo Yong Yeo offered sincere advice, telling him, “Your health is your greatest asset. You’ve always given yourself for others, but it seems like you’ve never truly cared for yourself.”
She continued, “You’ve pushed yourself too hard. From now on, you need to take care of yourself first and learn to love yourself.”
Jo Kwon deeply resonated with her words, admitting, “I don’t think I’ve ever lived for myself,” revealing the emotional weight he had carried while prioritizing his family and career.
