BTS member Jimin indirectly addressed the recent dating rumors during a live broadcast.
On October 2, before returning to Korea, Jimin held a live broadcast at a hotel, saying, “I want to keep showing my best side, but living life well isn’t an easy thing.”
Having previously revealed his past relationship and breakup due to a leaked video with an ex, Jimin stated, “Becoming a good adult and living a good life—it’s not simple. Sometimes I feel like I’m just pretending to be an adult. But I’ll keep doing my best to live well and show you the best version of myself.”
Although Jimin also talked about BTS's upcoming album preparations, various online communities turned their focus to Jimin's latest dating controversy.
Previously, actress Song Da Eun posted a video on her personal social media showing her meeting Jimin in an apartment elevator. Following this, his agency Big Hit Music stated, “The artist had a past mutual interest and connection with the other party, but that was years ago, and they are not currently in a relationship.”
Korean netizens and fans have gathered in a popular online community to share their thoughts, with many divided over Jimin's live streaming. They commented:
"Do idols even ever clearly clarify dating rumors…?"
"I mean, he's an adult. Let him just date."
"He might as well have kept quiet… lol."
"Is this even something to get upset about?"
"He’s never taken accountability for anything, whether work-related or not. Even during the encore incident, he said 'whether it was a device issue or not,' and Jimin fans claimed Mnet intentionally broke the in-ear monitors. During past controversies like the Gwangbok T-shirt incident or the unpaid insurance fees, the company apologized or deleted the videos. From a former fan’s perspective, no member lived life as easily as he. The six members were real angels. HYBE should stop working on his angel image. Fans and the public aren’t fools."
"He said enough. What else does he need? lol."
"He rambles without addressing the core issue, evading all responsibility… Thinking about the fans, he shouldn’t just brush this off. There’s no sincerity visible. Seems like he’s just thinking about how to let this slide again."
"During the relationship, fans ignored the global bullying. But as soon as he broke up, the flood of attention came immediately."
"Typical male behavior."
"What is he even saying lol."
"Why is it hard to be a good adult and show your best side? If you date, you should be responsible for your partner and protect them from obsessive fans. If you care about your fans, you shouldn’t have dated or lived together. What’s difficult about that?"
"Lol, I was foolish to have any expectation watching the live. The problem isn’t the dating. The problem is your fandom and your attitude."
"Even if he addressed it directly, people would still complain about why he brought it up. If he ignored it, they’d say he’s ignoring it. Using his ex to bash Jimin seems obvious. If he really cared about the woman, the article shouldn’t exist, or he shouldn’t even mention it. Total contradiction."
"Wait, was that even considered mentioning his ex? I thought it was exaggerated, but reading the replies, it seems it’s just vague, avoiding-style speech, but yes, it’s about the controversy."
"It’s just… his usual way of speaking. This is how he talks to fans normally. And now Jimin fans have a reason to attack Song Da Eun again."
"Saying nothing would be better, even for the fans."
"He's talking in circles."
"He's just going to let things die down again and then return to activities as if nothing happened."
"Why assume this is a mention about his girlfriend? Seems like he’s talking about life in general. So absurd."
"I don’t even know what kind of apology he should make."
