SHINee’s Onew opened up about a time when his health significantly declined.
On March 24, a new episode of 'duckbaphouse' was uploaded to the YouTube channel Saego_F5. The episode featured a reunion between TVXQ’s Changmin and SHINee’s Onew, who were once labelmates.
Looking back on his early impressions of Changmin, Onew shared, “I was intimidated. When I said, ‘Hello, hyung,’ he would respond, ‘Yeah, Onew. You’re here?’ and then there would be silence.” As the production crew reacted, Onew added, “I thought he was just that kind of ‘strict hyung,’ but at some point, he became more relaxed and generous,” easing the mood.

Before starting to cook, Onew also revealed his past eating habits. “I love sweets so much. I even thought I could live on just sugary foods. But back then, my health got really bad,” he admitted.
In response, Changmin said, “I was really worried when you lost so much weight. It wasn’t okay—it was dangerous,” pointing out his diet at the time. Onew replied, “I really loved sweets back then. That’s why these days I make sure to exercise enough and maintain a proper diet.”
Meanwhile, Onew previously sparked concern among the public in 2023 when he appeared on broadcasts looking noticeably thinner. In June of that year, he halted all activities due to health issues and took time off to rest.
