Less than a year after debut, rookie group AHOF is already drawing attention with early contract renewal rumors.
AHOF officially debuted on July 1 of last year after being formed through the TV survival program ‘Universe League.’ The group follows the typical structure of audition groups, where members remain signed to their individual agencies while a separate company manages the group’s intellectual property and overall promotions.
F&F Entertainment, which holds the group’s IP, signed an exclusive contract with the nine members through 2029, spanning four years.
However, less than a year into their debut, AHOF has become the subject of early renewal discussions. On March 25, Sports Chosun reported, citing multiple industry sources, that talks are underway for a long term contract extension totaling seven years, combining the original four year term with an additional three years. A seven year contract is considered the standard length for many idol groups.
The timing of these discussions has raised eyebrows across the K pop industry, as the group’s current contract still has several years remaining. Many observers have described the situation as highly unusual, while others have noted that it reflects AHOF’s growing popularity.
One industry insider pointed to the case of ZEROBASEONE, another audition group formed through Mnet’s ‘Boys Planet,’ which only began seeing renewal related discussions around mid last year despite being widely recognized as a top tier group.
AHOF’s agency, F&F Entertainment, has not denied the reports, stating briefly that they are “continuing discussions in a positive direction.”
Fans, known as FOHA, have largely welcomed the news. Many view the potential extension as an effort to overcome the inherent limitations of audition groups, which are often formed as temporary projects lasting only a few years.
AHOF has also recently gained attention for their achievements, winning four awards at the 2nd D Awards held on February 11. Their wins included the rookie category Dreams Silver Label, as well as Delights Blue Label, Discovery of the Year, and the Best Rising Star popularity award, further solidifying their rising status in the industry.
