Singer Kim Jae Joong has opened up about a recent hacking incident involving his mobile payment account, calling it a “truly terrifying day.”
Through a fan communication platform, Kim revealed that his KakaoPay account had been hacked, with the password changed without his knowledge, making it extremely difficult for him to regain access.
He explained that despite making repeated calls to customer service and staying on the phone for over an hour, the issue remained unresolved. He described his deep frustration while attempting to receive proper support from the platform’s representatives.
Criticizing the flawed system, Kim asked,
“Why should I be the one who has to know the new password when it was the hacker who changed it?”
He added, “They said they’d transfer me to a different department, but it turned out to be the same one I first called. That’s when my mental strength really broke down.”
While acknowledging that customer service representatives work hard, he expressed strong dissatisfaction with what he called a poorly designed and unhelpful system.
Ultimately, Kim Jae Joong chose to delete and withdraw his account, saying, “It was a truly terrifying day.”
Meanwhile, Kim Jae Joong is set to release his rock album "Beauty in Chaos" on May 19.
