KBS is planning a giant project.

According to insiders, KBS is currently preparing 'The Final 99 Match' (title pending) for idols who have debuted but didn't make it into the spotlight. The planned budget for the show is 7 billion KRW (approximately 6.2 million USD).

They are recruiting 500 idols - 250 male and 250 female - that have already released songs. There will be two teams in the end made of 9 members (one male, one female). They will not be taking any trainees.

How do you think this will work out?

I am think of how many idol groups debut in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 etc and yet still remain unknown and not won a single #1 yet. the list is so long. this show may not "save" all of them, but hopefully a couple of them may be like a "chart revival" like EXID, and gain some fame.

it's a good chance for the 'nugu' groups. use this chance well guys

grifsnax Tuesday, May 30, 2017

The boys+girls thing isnt going to work out lmao... get ready for the scandals, it's going to be fun.

Winston grifsnax Tuesday, May 30, 2017

i think the format hasnt been announced yet, but i think the "Final 99" is referring to the 9 boys and the 9 girls, forming 2 groups, which will tend maybe release an album or something.

grifsnax Winston Wednesday, May 31, 2017

oh i wasnt referring to the final lineups... i mean in general... all those hormones in a single setting, or single concert, single training facilities... its not going to work out lmao

I am curious how KBS is going to manage 500 people. even for Mnet, 101 trainees is already messy enough, imagine the amount of UNIFORMS they need, the different sizes the trainees have, the shoes they wear also. then there is issues like mikes and catering the food and such. Maybe KBS wont have a DORM system, meaning the 500 idols will stay in their own current dorms, wear watever their agency's stylist provided them, and eat whatever they normally have for lunch etc. but only for the filming, then they come for the recording. That way it will be less logistics for them.

I don't think they are going to wear uniform like Produce 101

Winston AmberJazzy Thursday, June 1, 2017

Probably not, it will be a nightmare for the stylists if they do it. I just wonder how the format will be like, if its going to be like a survival elimination and if the audience is going to vote again. and whether KBS will involve the TV viewers like Produce 101, or just the studio live audience votes only, and I am also curious on who is going to MC the show. lots of questions. lol I guess we will know as the time draws closer

AmberJazzy Winston Saturday, June 3, 2017

true, I couldn't imagine how the stylist would survive with so many contestants haha, and for the MC I would like Dongyeop from Hello Counselor and Immortal Songs 2 as he would make it lively and funny

Winston AmberJazzy Saturday, June 3, 2017

I am thinking like a senior singer class, like Lee Teuk or Sung Si Kyung would be nice also, maybe a duo MC team. since there are both male and female idols.

ourcheers2u Tuesday, May 30, 2017

I can practically smell the messiness in the near future.

defjeffb Tuesday, May 30, 2017

They better take all the 'Produce 101' eliminations from both seasons as well as eliminations from 'No Mercy', 'Boys24', 'Sixteen', and especially Somi.

diamondmonsta defjeffb Tuesday, May 30, 2017

I think, they won't accept them. as stated above, they only accept idols who already debuted but didn't make it into the industry further after debuting. and they won't accept trainees.

matv23 defjeffb Tuesday, May 30, 2017

I don't think Somi will be in this show. She's already in the spotlight, and she herself said that she would never do a survival program again.

Winston defjeffb Tuesday, May 30, 2017

100% not possible since Produce 101, Boys24 etc are MNET programs, NO WAY, KBS will support Mnet audition shows and accept them.

saranghae_3 defjeffb Tuesday, May 30, 2017

They definitely should not. This is a chance for debuted idols to try again, not people hoping to gain popularity.

Winston Monday, May 29, 2017

i think 500 members is too ambitious but maybe since KBS has more "funds", the amount of logistics, for that is huge. and i dunno if they can get CAMERA time, for them, and i am sure the viewers will complain of UNFAIR camera time and editing once again. Maybe they should limited it to 200, 100 boys and 100 girls as a first try.

Winston Monday, May 29, 2017

this reminds me of shows like jtbc's Girls Sprit, or "My Secret Weapon" where girl group members from "nugu" groups were on, to try and attract the attention and get famous, while Girls Spirit is more main vocal focused.

MunchieMinx Monday, May 29, 2017

Well it could be good. I mean there were a lot of Nugu groups who had talented members and just luck and opportunity weren't on their side so this could be a cool way to get a new chance.

nymeria24 Monday, May 29, 2017

so this wil be a thing now right?, it's not a surprise tho, you clearly can come out with the idea after Produce 101 blow up, the male edition is recieving an enormous popularity between the members who didn't make it at first and we can all agree of the amount of groups who failed after kpop wave exploded

krislina0607 Monday, May 29, 2017

Rather than 500 i would say they should have make it just 300
