Actor Byeon Woo Seok has become the first to join a donation relay organized by his fandom, “Byeon Woo Seok and Tongtong (Woo Che Tong),” contributing 30 million KRW (approx. 20,033 USD).
According to the Korea Social Welfare Society (Chairman Lee Bong Won), the actor participated early in the donation relay, which will begin on March 15. The initiative aims to support children preparing for the new school term by providing school supplies.
Earlier this year, Byeon Woo Seok practiced charitable giving by donating 100 million KRW (approx. 66,782 USD) to support vulnerable female adolescents and another 100 million KRW for the treatment of pediatric and adolescent patients. He has also shown his loyalty to fans by sending a congratulatory flower wreath to the wedding of his first supporter, who had cheered him on since his lesser-known days.
The latest donation relay was organized by the actor’s giving-focused fandom “Byeon Woo Seok and Tongtong,” which has continued charitable efforts in everyday life rather than limiting donations to special occasions since 2025. Funds collected over eight days will be used to purchase school supplies for children who face difficulties preparing for the new semester. After the relay concludes, fandom members plan to take part in volunteer work by personally packaging school supply kits.
Byeon Woo Seok quickly joined the effort after learning about his fans’ meaningful initiative, once again demonstrating positive influence. The donation also carries significance as a collaborative culture of giving created by both the actor and his fandom.
This is not the first time Byeon Woo Seok and his fans have worked together to help those in need. In April last year, after the actor donated 100 million KRW to assist victims displaced by wildfires, his fandom voluntarily raised and contributed an additional 30 million KRW (approx. 20,027 USD). Earlier this year, after he donated 100 million KRW to support pediatric and adolescent patients, fans followed up with a 10 million KRW donation within just two days.
Such sincere acts have deepened the meaning of the charitable efforts built jointly by the actor and his fandom. With Byeon Woo Seok once again leading the way, the latest donation has added another heartwarming story. Attention is also expected to continue toward the ongoing donation relay organized by the Korea Social Welfare Society and “Byeon Woo Seok and Tongtong.”
Meanwhile, Byeon Woo Seok’s first leading film, Soulmate, will reunite with audiences when it becomes available again on Netflix on March 20. He is also set to kick off his acting activities for 2026 through the upcoming The Crown Princess of the 21st Century, which premieres on April 10. The actor will further continue his busy schedule with appearances on the Netflix variety program Yoo Jae Suk Camp and the original series Solo Leveling.
The Korea Social Welfare Society has consistently carried out “fan donation campaigns,” in which fan clubs formed out of affection for celebrities contribute to helping socially vulnerable groups on special occasions such as anniversaries or birthdays. These efforts have helped promote a positive fandom culture of charitable giving.
Founded in 1954, the Korea Social Welfare Society has spent more than 70 years contributing to the history of social welfare in South Korea. Through its headquarters, three branches, and 29 facilities, the organization continues to carry out various charitable initiatives supporting infants, children, adolescents, people with disabilities, and the elderly in need.
