HYBE has officially announced a large-scale audition in India aimed at forming a new girl group, signaling the company’s continued global expansion.
Often referred to as the “Bollywood version of a global girl group,” the project will be conducted through HYBE India, targeting aspiring female trainees born between 2005 and 2011. The audition will cover 10 major cities across India, including Delhi and Mumbai, with applications open until July 31.
Those selected through the audition will undergo HYBE’s training system, known as T&D (Training & Development), which has been key to shaping K-pop artists.

The initiative is drawing attention due to India’s unique entertainment culture, commonly known as “Bollywood,” where singing and choreography are organically integrated, making it a strong foundation for a K-pop-style group.
The Indian girl group project can be seen as an extension of HYBE’s global “multi-home, multi-genre” strategy led by chairman Bang Si Hyuk. Prior to entering India, HYBE successfully launched localized groups across key global markets, including Japan and the Americas.
Notable examples include &TEAM, Latin-based boy group SANTOS BRAVOS, and global girl group KATSEYE. &TEAM has risen to top-tier status in both Korea and Japan, while KATSEYE achieved major success last year with hits like “Gnarly” and “Gabriela,” even earning a nomination for Best New Artist at the Grammys.
With HYBE now turning its attention to India, anticipation is growing over what could become the next global girl group success story.
