Actor Cho Jin Woong has reportedly been spotted in Malaysia just four months after announcing his retirement, drawing renewed public attention.
According to a recent video released by media outlet The Fact, the actor, who stepped away from the industry in December last year following controversy surrounding his past, has been living out of the spotlight.
The report states that since retiring, Cho has cut off contact not only with the public but also with close acquaintances, effectively disappearing from social circles. Amid this silence, an unexpected eyewitness account has emerged from Malaysia.
A Korean resident in Malaysia claimed they briefly saw Cho Jin Woong in the country but said, “He passed by very quickly,” adding that they were unable to capture any photos or videos as evidence.
Cho Jin Woong had built a strong career through various acclaimed performances. However, in December, he became the subject of allegations involving a troubled past as a juvenile offender, along with claims of inappropriate behavior even after reaching adulthood.
In response, Cho issued a public apology, stating, “I sincerely apologize for disappointing everyone who trusted and supported me due to my past misconduct.” He added, “I humbly accept all criticism and will stop all activities as of today, bringing my acting career to an end.”
At the time of his retirement, Cho had already completed filming for the upcoming tvN drama 'Second Signal,' alongside Kim Hye Soo and Lee Jae Hoon. The series had attracted strong anticipation as a sequel to the hit 2016 drama 'Signal,' set to return after nearly a decade.
However, following the controversy, the future of 'Second Signal,' which had been scheduled for release next year, has become uncertain, leaving fans and industry insiders questioning whether the project will be released.
