Comedian Park Na Rae is once again at the center of controversy, as allegations surrounding her former agency dealings and personal conduct resurface. Her former manager, identified as 'A,' claims that during her contract renewal with JDB Entertainment, Park Na Rae attempted to gain leverage over senior figures by secretly recording conversations. JDB Entertainment was founded by comedians Kim Jun Ho and Kim Dae Hee, who are also closely connected to Park Na Rae’s social circle.
In a statement released on January 12 and 13, 'A' alleged, “Park Na Rae tried to gain leverage over the founders of JDB, including senior figures Kim Jun Ho and Kim Dae Hee, in order to secure favorable contract terms. She pressured me to secretly record conversations, which I then sent to her and her boyfriend. The recordings are still retained as evidence.” A further claimed that during the contract renewal period, both Park Na Rae and JDB were trying to exert influence over him.
While the former manager did not explicitly name Kim Jun Ho or Kim Dae Hee as the targets of the recordings, speculation has arisen because they founded JDB. This context has renewed interest in Park Na Rae’s absence from comedian Kim Ji Min’s wedding, which was also attended by many prominent comedians.
Park Na Rae reportedly missed both the wedding photoshoot and the ceremony, citing a theft incident at her home. She explained her absence to Kim Ji Min and Kim Jun Ho and sent a generous congratulatory gift. Her team officially attributed her absence to “personal reasons.”
'A' also defended herself against allegations related to negligence in caring for Park Na Rae’s dog, Bokdol. She stated that he personally handled all aspects of the dog’s care, including food, medication, walks, bathing, and veterinary visits, as Bokdol’s health required continuous attention during a prolonged stay in the countryside.
'A' strongly denied claim that Park Na Rae’s side offered a settlement of 500 million KRW. She said, “I woke up around noon to numerous missed calls, text messages, and KakaoTalk messages, and was shocked to see media reports and public opinion that were completely different from the facts.” She added, “I immediately contacted my lawyer, met with them the same day, and on the afternoon of the 8th, around 4 to 5 PM, decided this was a ‘last chance’ and sent a settlement proposal to Park Na Rae’s side through my attorney.”
She emphasized, “The settlement proposal did not include any financial demands. It only requested an apology for false reports and acknowledgment of the facts.” However, she claimed that she later received a message from Park Na Rae asking, “If not money, then what do you want?” adding that “the wording felt strangely calculated, which I found very puzzling.”
Negotiations continued until around 10 PM on the 8th of last month, but ultimately collapsed without a clear response from Park Na Rae’s side. 'A' further alleged, “In effect, Park Na Rae’s side sent us a settlement proposal first on the 5th. When we expressed our refusal within two to three hours, they released a statement containing false information about an hour later and immediately filed a complaint with Yongsan Police Station, accusing us of attempted blackmail.”
Regarding controversy over national insurance coverage, 'A' explained, “I have served as the head of an entertainment corporation since 2015, and even during my time at my previous agency JDB, I was properly enrolled in the four major social insurance programs.” She added, “While working with Park Na Rae, I consistently requested enrollment in the four major insurances along with the team leader and manager, and I was told that the final decision rested with Park Na Rae.” She stressed, “Reports suggesting that I did not want insurance coverage are completely false, and I am speaking out to correct ongoing attempts to raise unfounded suspicions against me, the team leader, and the manager.”
Finally, addressing salary-related claims, 'A' refuted reports stating that he turned down a proposed monthly salary of 5 million KRW in favor of 3 million KRW. She clarified, “The 3 million KRW referred to funds intended for meeting-related expenses, not a reduction in my personal salary.” She added, “If that amount were interpreted as my actual pay, it would raise serious questions about how basic living expenses could be covered.”
Earlier legal disputes between Park Na Rae and her former managers have included mutual accusations of workplace harassment, unauthorized prescriptions, defamation, and attempted extortion. Police investigations involving both sides have reportedly concluded. 'A' is currently residing in the United States due to health reasons.
