'Solo Leveling' is taking to the ice! The global phenomenon Solo Leveling will have its first ice musical, titled 'Solo Leveling on Ice.' The production will be carried out by the ice theater production company LIVE ARENA. Jin-woo's universe is transformed into a completely new show: action, shadows, and battles... now on ice, with a staging that combines elite figure skating, live music, and massive visual effects.
This new adaptation is a live musical adaptation on ice of the popular Korean web novel and webtoon 'Solo Leveling.' The production combines musical theater, live acting, figure skating, projections, acrobatics, and stage effects on ice, creating a hybrid show that goes beyond a conventional musical. This marks the first production of the K-Performance genre in South Korea, where all artistic elements are combined in a single show.
The story follows Sung Jin Woo, who is known as the weakest hunter of all. During a catastrophic dungeon raid, he is left on the brink of death until a mysterious system chooses him as its only “player.” From that moment on, Jin Woo acquires the unique ability to level up without limits, becoming stronger with each battle. The musical's general director has revealed that the show will follow the first episodes of the webtoon, season 1 of the anime, and hopes to turn this into a series that can be expanded later. He also plans to take the musical overseas.
The main character Sung Jin Woo will be played by two actors with previous experience in musicals and ice skating: iKON's leader and main vocalist Kim Jin Hwan (JAY) and dancer and actor Lee Ho Won (Hoya). In addition, Kim Chae Yeon from tripleS plays Jin Woo's younger sister, Sung Jin Ah. Musical actor Choi Woo Hyuk will play Yoo Jin Ho, and figure skating stars Kim Ye Rim and Lee Si Hyung will play Cha Hae In and Igris, respectively. Also included is a large cast of actors and figure skaters who will bring magic to the show, where each of the participants will demonstrate their skills.
Yesterday, the soundtrack was released on all streaming platforms, consisting of five songs featuring renowned singer Ha Hyun Woo (Guckkasten), JAY (iKON), Lee Dong Yeol (UP10TION), singer Rothy, and HOYA.
The original author of the webtoon, Chugong, who attended the private listening party for the original soundtrack for the musical, expressed his excitement and anticipation for the show, as well as his impression of the soundtrack. The show will be presented from December 24 to 31 at the Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul.
