Musical actor Kim Jun Young issued a public apology regarding allegations of visiting entertainment establishments.
On November 7, Kim Jun Young posted a handwritten apology on his Instagram, stating, "I sincerely apologize for disappointing and hurting many people due to my personal actions in the past. Regardless of legality, my inappropriate behavior stemmed from a lack of awareness. There is no excuse for my actions, and I take full responsibility."
He continued, "My relationship with my agency has ended, and I have stepped down from all ongoing projects. However, I understand that this alone cannot erase the disappointment and hurt I have caused. I see this as the beginning of taking responsibility, and I will live the rest of my life reflecting on my actions with humility and remorse."
Acknowledging the delay in issuing his apology, Kim said, "I also deeply apologize for the late response. I hesitated, fearing shame and the possibility of causing further disappointment or harm, which led to repeated revisions and delays. This itself reflects my shortcomings and mistakes. I am truly sorry once again."
He concluded, "I bow in apology to the production companies, agencies, colleagues, and staff affected by my actions. I am deeply sorry to the audience and fans for the hurt and disappointment I caused. Despite receiving overwhelming support and love, I failed to act responsibly and hurt others with my misconduct. This incident has forced me to painfully reflect on my negligence and attitude. I will not forget this shame and will hold myself to higher standards moving forward."
The controversy arose after an online community noticed that Kim Jun Young deleted a receipt photo from his social media, sparking speculation that he had visited an illegal entertainment establishment based on details such as a female name and amounts listed on the receipt.
His agency, HJ Culture, issued a statement denying any illegal activity, asserting, "There were no illegal acts committed by Kim Jun Young in relation to the allegations circulating online." Despite this, public criticism persisted, and a boycott campaign targeted both the actor and the agency.
As a result, HJ Culture announced that Kim Jun Young would withdraw from the musical Rachmaninoff and the play Amadeus, stating, "Careful consultations with production teams and relevant parties were necessary. We apologize for our initial insufficient communication and public response."
The agency also confirmed that Kim Jun Young’s exclusive contract had ended alongside his withdrawal from the productions, adding, "We deeply apologize for causing concern to the public."
