Actress Lee Si Young gave birth to her second child through an embryo that had been frozen during her marriage with her former husband.
She shared a photo with her baby on Instagram on the afternoon of November 5, writing, “I consider this a gift from God, and I will make sure to raise [the baby] happily with Jeong Yoon. Thank you so much, Professor Won Hye Seong. I will never forget my gratitude.”
In July, Lee announced her pregnancy on social media, stating, “I am currently pregnant. I am sharing this now to prevent misunderstandings and speculation in advance.” She further explained, “During my marriage, embryos created through in vitro fertilization were frozen. During the divorce process, as the storage period was nearing its end, I decided to proceed with the embryo transfer instead of discarding them.” According to Lee, her former husband did not consent to the procedure, but after much consideration, she made the decision on her own.
Lee Si Young had revealed her divorce earlier this year in March, after seven years of marriage. Her announcement of a second pregnancy just four months later attracted significant public attention.
Her pregnancy and childbirth have sparked discussions in South Korea around sensitive topics such as IVF procedures, embryo storage, and single parenthood, drawing both public interest and debate.
