Musical actor Kim Jun Young will withdraw from all of his ongoing productions after being embroiled in allegations of visiting an illegal adult entertainment venue.
His agency and production company HJ CULTURE released a second official statement on November 3, confirming his withdrawal and offering an apology to the public. “We sincerely apologize for causing concern to audiences and industry officials due to matters related to actor Kim Jun Young,” the company stated. “Kim Jun Young will be stepping down from all productions he is currently appearing in.”
HJ CULTURE explained that coordination with multiple production teams took time before a final decision could be made. “As the actor was involved in several productions, careful discussions with each production company and related parties were necessary. We apologize once again for the delay in confirming and communicating the final decision,” the statement continued.
The company also acknowledged criticism over its initial response, saying, “We deeply regret disappointing those who supported us due to the insufficient initial notice and statement. We will continue to take responsible steps. Details regarding performance cancellations and refunds will be announced later.”
On the same day, Library Company, the production team behind the play Amadeus, also confirmed that “Kim Jun Young has withdrawn from the production due to personal reasons.”
The controversy erupted after Kim uploaded a photo of a restaurant receipt on his personal social media account and quickly deleted it. The receipt reportedly contained a woman’s name and a significant payment amount, leading online users to speculate that he had visited an illegal adult entertainment venue.
HJ CULTURE initially denied the allegations, asserting on November 3 that “the actor did not engage in any illegal activity” and warning of legal action against those spreading false information or defamation. However, the agency’s defensive response intensified public backlash, prompting some fans to announce a boycott of all HJ CULTURE productions.
