KBS2's 'The Return of Superman' has appointed Lee Yi Kyung and RalRal as new MCs for its fall season revamp.
Since its premiere in 2013, 'The Return of Superman' has been loved for over 13 years. The show even received the Presidential Commendation during the 14th Population Day ceremony in July.
Starting November 12, Lee Yi Kyung and RalRal will take over hosting duties from Choi Ji Woo, Ahn Young Mi, and Park Soo Hong. Choi Ji Woo had previously announced her departure due to scheduling conflicts, and with the upcoming season change, the production team decided to bring in a new lineup.
Over the past year and five months, Choi Ji Woo, Ahn Young Mi, and Park Soo Hong have guided 'The Return of Superman' with genuine warmth—sometimes as parents themselves, sometimes as empathetic hosts—while sharing in the growth of the show’s beloved babies. Naturally, attention is now focused on the chemistry between the new MCs, Lee Yi Kyung and RalRal.
Moreover, Lee Yi Kyung makes history as the first-ever unmarried MC on 'The Return of Superman.' Known for being a doting uncle but inexperienced in childcare, he’s excited to take on the role with the mindset of a “dad in training.” His curiosity and reactions from the perspective of someone not yet a parent are expected to bring fresh energy to the show.
RalRal, who recently joined Superman and has since become a fan favorite, is a versatile content creator known for her comedic alter egos such as “Neighborhood Women’s Association President Lee Myunghwa” and “Y2K singer Yul.” She revealed that her popular character Lee Myunghwa was inspired by her real-life experience: “When I gained weight during pregnancy with my daughter Seobin, I came up with the idea.” Her story about gaining fame thanks to her 12-month-old daughter, Park Seo Bin, has drawn attention online. Viewers are looking forward to seeing the unique chemistry between rookie “childcare student” Lee Yi Kyung and experienced “mom” RalRal.
The production team commented, “As we introduce families of diverse backgrounds this season, we hope to share the joys of parenting from multiple perspectives and capture moments of happiness together.”
'The Return of Superman' airs every Wednesday at 8:30 PM on KBS2.
