i-dle's Shuhua is set to make her big-screen debut, taking on a leading role in an upcoming film.
On March 26, Cube Entertainment announced, “Shuhua has been cast as the lead in the Chinese-language film 'Happy and Joyful Days' (directed by Feng-I Fiona Roan). This will mark her first appearance in a movie.”
'Happy and Joyful Days' tells the story of two sisters with completely different personalities. Their seemingly peaceful daily lives begin to unravel after the unexpected arrival of a stray cat.
Shuhua will play the innocent and cheerful youngest sister, Lin Jia Qi. After picking up a stray cat by chance, her outlook on life gradually begins to change through the connections she forms.
Sharing her thoughts on her acting debut, Shuhua said, “I want to show a different side of myself as an actress,” adding, “I hope to bring a new kind of surprise to my fans.”
She continued, “Lin Jia Qi’s bright and emotional personality is similar to mine. However, her inner struggles—worrying about the future and avoiding it—are aspects I want to challenge myself with. I will convey them at my own pace.”
Director Feng-I Fiona Roan has been recognized at the prestigious Golden Horse Awards, where she won Best New Director, the FIPRESCI Prize, and the Audience Award. She gained critical acclaim for her film American Girl.
Meanwhile, i-dle is currently on their fourth world tour, 'Syncopation.' The group is scheduled to visit Australia in May, followed by Singapore, Yokohama, and Hong Kong in June, and major cities across North America in August.
In addition, i-dle will take the stage at the major music festival Lollapalooza, held at Grant Park in Chicago on July 31 (local time).
