Kim Ji Hoon headlined the '2025 Seoul International Drama Awards – Drama Talk Concert' on October 4 at Banpo Hangang Park’s waterfront stage, sharing stories from his 23 years in acting, revisiting signature scenes, and previewing upcoming work including tvN’s November premiere 'Nice to Not Meet You'.
Reflecting on his breakout villain turn in 'Flower of Evil', Kim Ji Hoon said it was a pivotal project that broadened recognition of his range: “It was a risky choice, but it let people know there is an actor named Kim Ji Hoon. I’m grateful to that drama.” He then looked back on SBS’s 'The Haunted Palace', where he portrayed both a king and a ghost. Watching highlight clips with on-site fans, he relived the tension of playing two opposing presences within one narrative and drew loud applause.
This year, Kim Ji Hoon also took a first step into Hollywood with Amazon Prime series 'Butterfly'. Describing the preparation behind his taciturn killer role, he noted, “I practiced a lot with an English teacher,” underscoring his focus on craft. On how he chooses projects, he added that the chief criterion is whether the work feels like a challenge he can genuinely enjoy and commit to over the long haul.
Beyond the screen talk, a light TMI corner—covering “today’s TMI,” what’s in his bag, dinner recommendations, songs he’s been looping, and a recent binge—showed an easygoing side that contrasts with his intense roles. He emphasized steady training and self-care, saying, “Everyone faces hard moments at least once. Emotions are closely tied to the body; if you make consistent exercise a baseline in life, you can build the strength to endure.” Closing, he addressed his younger self from 23 years ago with a succinct credo: “Living joyfully and meaningfully, day by day—that’s what matters.”
Looking ahead, Kim Ji Hoon returns in November with 'Nice to Not Meet You' as a warm, considerate lead. He is also appearing on Netflix variety 'Crime Scene Zero' and the drama 'Genie, Make a Wish', with additional releases including 'Dear X' on deck.
