Hwang Hyun Hee said he did not receive the government’s second round of livelihood-recovery consumer coupons, noting he falls into the top ten percent income bracket. Appearing on TV Chosun’s 'Powerful Opponents' on October 4, Hwang Hyun Hee joined Kim Sung Tae, Park Yong Jin, and Lee Jun Seok in a discussion that spanned topics from abolishing the prosecution service to real estate and coupon policy.
Asked whether he had received the second coupon, Hwang Hyun Hee replied, “They didn’t give me the second one,” drawing laughs from the panel. The program explained that the government began a second distribution on September 22, providing about USD 73 (KRW 100,000) per person to ninety percent of the public, excluding the top ten percent by income. He added that for the first round, he combined his coupon with his wife’s to purchase a gym membership, and observed that while such programs can boost spending briefly, “the amount isn’t that large, so after one or two bigger purchases, people tend to return to their usual habits.”

Hwang Hyun Hee also spoke about shifting focus to investing and teaching as entertainment work slowed. “I didn’t want to end as a once-familiar comedian who couldn’t perform anymore, so I studied in graduate school, worked hard at investing, wrote a book, and now I also lecture.” On MBN’s 'Dongchimi' Chuseok special the same day, he described entertainment as an unstable profession, saying, “I sometimes call entertainers ‘high-class beggars,’” and advised viewers to be wary of “one-big-shot thinking” when investing.
