Comedian Lee Jin Ho has been officially charged without detention in connection with a drunk driving incident, with the report filed by his girlfriend.
According to investigative reports by Dispatch, on the early morning of September 24, Lee Jin Ho was involved in an argument with his girlfriend in Incheon following the consumption of alcohol. Despite his intoxicated state, he drove approximately 100 kilometers to his residence in Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province.
The incident was reported to authorities by Lee Jin Ho’s girlfriend. Upon receiving the report, the Incheon Police coordinated with the Yangpyeong Police Department, which dispatched officers to Lee Jin Ho’s residence. He was subsequently apprehended at the scene.
Lee Jin Ho was questioned at the Yangpyeong Police Station. SM C&C, his managing agency, issued a statement expressing regret: “Lee Jin Ho is fully aware of the severity of his actions and is reflecting deeply, without offering any excuses or justifications. The agency also sincerely accepts responsibility. We apologize for the concern caused.”
Lee Jin Ho has previously been under scrutiny for illegal gambling. In October of the previous year, he publicly admitted to engaging in illegal gambling via social media, stating that he is steadily repaying his debts. Earlier this April, Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station referred him to the prosecution without detention on charges of habitual gambling. Reports indicate that the total amount involved in these activities reached several hundred million Korean KRW.
