Actor Lee Min Jung has revealed that she and her husband, Lee Byung Hun, have different religions — but there is no religious conflict between them. So what’s the reason?
In a vlog released on her YouTube channel ‘Lee Min Jung MJ’ on the 12th, Lee shared her daily life, from preparing breakfast to parenting and going out.
That day, the couple and their son Jun Hoo watched the animated film ‘The King of Kings,’ in which Lee Byung Hun voiced the role of Jesus. The film is a Christian work depicting the life of Jesus.

After the screening, Lee Min Jung said, “Our family is Christian, but my husband is not. When Lee Byung Hun said he was doing this movie, my mom was so happy.” Lee Byung Hun is known to be a Buddhist.
While Lee Min Jung shed tears during touching scenes in the movie, Lee Byung Hun tilted his head and remarked, “I don’t understand,” showing a difference in perspective. Lee Min Jung, however, said, “There were so many moments that made me cry.”
Lee Min Jung added, “We live respecting each other’s religions.” This mutual respect is why there is no conflict despite their different faiths.
Director Jang Sung Ho of ‘The King of Kings’ explained the reason for casting Lee Byung Hun: “It’s a Christian movie, but I needed a strong actor who could draw public interest. I believed that, as long as he could relate to the message of the work, his being a Buddhist would not be an issue.”
At the time, Lee Byung Hun also commented on his decision to join the film, saying, “I chose it because it’s a work I can watch with my child.”
