On August 13, Wavve unveiled the poster for the upcoming six-part series version of the action film 'I KILL U,' announcing that it will be released on August 22.
Originally released in theaters last July, 'I KILL U' tells the story of Sunwoo (played by Kang Jiyoung), a former taekwondo prodigy now working part-time jobs, who becomes embroiled in a massive conspiracy while trying to cover her mother’s medical bills. Directed by Yoo Ha, known for 'Once Upon a Time in High School' and 'A Dirty Carnival,' the film delivers hard-boiled action with intense emotional stakes.
The film was invited to the '29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival,' where it won the 'Asian Film Award' from the Méliès International Festivals Federation. Kang Jiyoung drew particular attention for her dual role, portraying both the underprivileged Sunwoo and Jiyeon, the granddaughter of a wealthy family. Lee Kikwang stars as Hojung, Jiyeon’s half-brother, sharing dynamic on-screen chemistry with Kang.
The upcoming series version will feature previously unseen footage, including deeper explorations of Sunwoo’s inner emotions and motivations, as well as unreleased action sequences starring Kang Jiyoung and Lee Kikwang.
The production team stated, “The series format, with 30-minute mid-form episodes, is designed for easy binge-watching and will allow viewers to piece together the story like a puzzle. Fans can also look forward to additional episodes featuring supporting characters that enrich the main narrative.”
The six-part 'I KILL U' series will be available in full on Wavve starting August 22.
